Shoulder Trauma
Glenoid Fracture
Glenoid fractures can result from shoulder dislocation, high-impact trauma, or avulsion injuries. They are classified by the Ideberg system and may involve the anterior rim, posterior rim, or the glenoid fossa. Small, minimally displaced fractures can be managed conservatively with immobilization. Displaced intra-articular fractures or those causing instability require open or arthroscopic fixation using screws or suture anchors. Untreated glenoid fractures may lead to chronic instability or early arthritis. CT scans are often needed to assess fracture morphology and guide surgical planning. Postoperative rehabilitation emphasizes early passive motion and gradual strengthening.
