Shoulder Trauma
Coracoid Fracture
Coracoid process fractures are rare and often associated with other shoulder injuries such as AC dislocations or scapular fractures. Most are non-displaced and treated conservatively with sling immobilization and early range of motion. Displaced fractures or those compromising the coracoclavicular ligament complex may need surgical fixation using screws. Diagnosis can be missed on standard X-rays and may require CT for confirmation. Because of its role as an attachment site for multiple muscles (pectoralis minor, short head of biceps, coracobrachialis), untreated displacement can lead to muscular imbalance and shoulder dysfunction.
