Shoulder dislocation (instability)
Soft Tissue β Bankart Repair
Soft tissue Bankart lesions involve a detachment of the anterior-inferior labrum from the glenoid rim, typically due to anterior shoulder dislocation. This labrum acts as a stabilizing bumper; once torn, the shoulder becomes prone to further dislocations. Arthroscopic Bankart repair involves reanchoring the labrum using suture anchors to restore joint stability. It is especially effective in young, active patients without significant bone loss. Early repair can prevent long-term damage, reduce the risk of recurrence, and improve functional outcomes. Rehabilitation is essential post-operatively, with a focus on progressive strengthening of the rotator cuff and scapular stabilizers.
